Irina Zviadadze Awarded Best Young Researcher in Finance and Insurance 2023

Irina Zviadadze, Associate Professor of Finance at HEC Paris and affiliate researcher at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), is the winner of the “Best Young Researcher in Finance and Insurance” award 2023, sponsored by the SCOR Foundation for Science.

Irina Zviadadze has received the “Best Young Researcher in Finance and Insurance” award 2023 from the SCOR Foundation for Science. The award was also granted to Olivier Guéant, a researcher in applied mathematics and professor at Paris La Sorbonne University, with whom she tied for first place.

Candidates are nominated by the Scientific Board members of the Institut Louis Bachelier (ILB) and the Scientific Board members of the Institut Europlace de Finance (IEF). The winner is voted by the Louis Bachelier Academic Fellows College. To be eligible, researchers must be no older than 40 and affiliated with a French academic institution.
Didier Valet, President of the Institut Europlace de Finance and Vice-President of the Institut Louis Bachelier, commented: “We are delighted to present her with this award, which confirms the importance of her past work as well as the potential of her future research.”

The awards ceremony took place on March 21, during the Risks Forum organized by the ILB. On that occasion, Irina Zviadadze said: “This award is very valuable for me, especially because it was given earlier to many of my colleagues who are my role models.” She has already received several research awards, including the Hans Dalborg Award for excellence in research in financial economics.
Irina Zviadadze's main research domain is asset pricing. She studies the risks to which investors are exposed when they buy different assets (for example, stocks and bonds) and how these risk exposures are compensated. Her research insights are directly applicable for practitioners when developing investment strategies. At the moment she is also interested in the question of government debt sustainability, a topic which became particularly prominent in many developed countries after the COVID-19 pandemic.
